About me

My name is Pieke van der Zwaan-Everaert. I am 37 years old, and since the summer of 2008 I am an official Dog listener, approved by Jan Fennell. This means that I was trained by Jan Fennell (www.janfennellthedoglistener.com) herself. I started my career as a lawyer. At some point, I decided to follow my heart and make a big career change. I  started a training for veterinarian assistant. I found a job as a veterinarian assistant and learned a lot. In particular I learned about first aid for animals, hygiene, behaviour and care of animals. For 3 years I worked part time as a veterinarian assistant and I also started a dog walking service. My dog walking service was very successful, reason why I had to quit my part time job and for four years I enjoyed walking the dogs every day. Because of my pregnancy and health problems of one of my own dogs, I finally quit my dog walking service. This is when I started my training with Jan Fennell and started to work as a Dog Listener. By now I  have successfully finished several other courses, all about dogs and pets, including the courses “Communicate with animals" (www.dezomerhof.nl) and “animal massage and kinematics" Silverlinde Institute (www.silverlinde.com).

Dog Listener

In April 2008 Jan Fennell came to Holland for the first time to give the Foundation Course training. I successfully finished the training with a lot of enthusiasm. Then I was invited to take part in the Advanced Course in England. And that was summer 2008. Jan's method (Amichien Bonding®) has truly changed my life. When I came back home after finishing the Advanced Course, I could directly see what was really going on in the minds of my dogs. I always thought they were so happy and playful, but they were actually also very nervous and unsure about their position and their role in the pack. I could not wait to start with Amichien Bonding. I wanted to help them as soon as possible with their uncertainties. Poor dogs! After a few days I already noticed results. Oh, I was really happy. My dogs were so much happier and more relaxed. During the daily walks it was a huge difference. I was not walking behind my dogs anymore, but they were walking with me. What a difference! They are so happy now! If you see me walking with my dogs, I walk with a really big smile on my face. I want all dog owners to experience this and that is why I started to work as a Dog Listener. I hope in my life I will be able to make many dogs happy and teach their owners to communicate with their dogs. Start reading some of her books. You can order them with me (send me an email) or order them with an online bookstore. It is really worth a try!

29 mei 2010  For the next three months, Every Chance Rescue (a non-profit organisation for helping dogs of which other people think they are "hopeless" but as we Dog Listeners know, are not "hopeless" at all, they are just not understood by these people) will be featured on Dogoogle, a Google-generated search engine. Simply by using Dogoogle in place of your usual search engine you will raise funds for the Every Chance Rescue dogs, and still receive top-quality Google search results. Here is the link: www.dogoogle.org So bookmark it, make it your home page and ask your friends and family to do the same, so they too can raise funds for a very worthy cause every time they search the web. Please spread the word so we can raise as much money as possible for the dogs!
