WelcomeWelcome to our Doggylanguage website. I have been trained by Jan Fennell as an APA Dog Listener. I can help you to understand and handle your dog in a better way. Not only if there is a problem, but also for when you just got a new dog (puppy or adult, traumatised or not traumatised) or are looking for one. I want to ensure that possible problems are solved and/or prevented and the dog and his owner can enjoy each other in the best and kindest possible way. And of course, if you just want to understand more about the language of your dog, I will be there to help you too!
Have you already tried everything? Do you think that your dog is a hopeless case, and nothing helps? Do not hesitate and pick up the phone! Also in those situations, I can help you! Or just start with reading one of the books of Jan Fennell. All her books are available at your local library, and of course you can order them online, for example at bol.com. It is definitely worth a try! |

Our method: your dog is your best friend
The method that I use, deals with your dog as your best friend. You will treat your dog with lots of love and respect. The name of this method is: Ami (= friend) chien (= dog) bonding®. This method was developed by Jan Fennell, the international Dog Listener (www.janfennellthedoglistener.com). We think that any form of correction is wrong. Therefore we don’t use corrections, because there is no place for fear and pain in the learning process of the dog. We must win the trust of the dog, and by using corrections you will not gain confidence from your dog. Your dog will work with you much better of its own free will, than because of fear because of corrections by its owner. "The best control is self control" (Jan Fennell)
Modern dogs are descendants of wolves. The language of the domesticated dog is that of the Wolf. A pack of wolves can only survive and reproduce if there is a clear hierarchy in the pack. The leaders of the pack are the alpha-male and alpha-bitch. They are responsible for the pack. They take all the decisions, they lead the hunt, they make sure there is food and they protection the pack in case of danger. The rest of the pack rely completely on the Alpha’s and are satisfied with their own role in the pack. This gives them peace of mind and makes them happy. In case of problem behaviour with a domesticated dog, this is also the situation that the dog thinks he is the alpha-leader of the family. The dog thinks that he has the task to protect the family. Our world is completely different from the natural habitats of the dog (the wolf). Dogs don’t know and don’t understand our world. If a dog in this unknown world has this many responsibilities, it will get very stressed and nervous and this will result in problem behavior. There is nothing the dog does wrong, the dog just carries out his task as the pack leader. |
